There are many ways to capture your computer screen and save it as an image file. The most common method in doing this task is to use Windows Print Screen.
- On your keyboard, press the Print Screen button located next to F12 key on a standard keyboard. It may labeled "Prt Sc".
- Press and hold the Alt key while pressing Print Screen to capture only the active window.
- The image of your screen has bow been copied to the clipboard of Windows.
- Open an image editing tool where you can view your screen shot:
- Open the Microsoft Paint by clicking on Start >> Programs >> Accessories >> Paint.
- In Paint, click on the Edit menu and select Paste. You may crop unnecessary portions of the screen shot by dragging the edges of the white background.
- After doing some editing on the screen shot, you may now save it into a file. Click on File menu >> Save. There are many image formats that you can choose to save your screen shot. The JPEG format is the most common format in digital imaging.
- Corel PaintShop Pro X2 is a sophisticated program that lets you capture images from your computer screen. - Ulead PhotoImpact 12 can also capture screen shot from your computer screen. For detailed explanation on how to use this feature, please launch the Help file of Corel PhotoImpact 12 and proceed to the topic: "Getting Started" >> "Basics" >> "Making a screen capture".
- Detailed explanation of this task using the latest version of PhotoImpact which is Corel PhotoImpact X3 can be found from the Help file: "Getting Started" >> "Making a screen capture".
- CorelDraw's Capture X4 in CorelDraw Graphics Suite X4 also lets you capture images from your computer screen. For example, you can capture the entire screen, individual windows, or menu lists to use as an illustration in a manual or on a Web site. For detailed explanation on how to use this tool, please launch Capture X4 by clicking on Start >> Programs >> CorelDraw Graphics Suite X4 >> Corel Capture X4. In Corel Capture X4, click on Help.
