How to change the color of a text object in Corel PaintShop Pro X2?

Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo lets you apply different types of text to your images. You can apply vector text, raster text, and text as a selection. For this tutorial, we will be applying a Vector text on an image since it is the most versatile type of text where in the text characters can be edited at anytime. With Vector text, you can change the words, font type, style, and alignment. Unlike Raster text, Vector text retains its crisp, sharp edges when you resize it.

  1. Open an image with PaintShop Pro X2 Ultimate.
  2. Click on the Text tool in the toolbar. Clicking this tool will display the settings and controls of the Text tool in the Tools Options palette.
    1. You can set the parameters of a text before or after entering it to the image.
  3. Click anywhere on the image to initially place your text.
  4. In the text box that appears, type your text. Then click on Apply.
    1. In the Layers palette, you will notice a new vector layer which corresponds to the text that you have just applied. This is required since vector text cannot be on the same layer with the raster image.
  5. Right-click on your text and select Properties…
  6. In the Vector Property window that appears, you may now change the color of the outline and fill of your text here.
    1. To change the outline color of the text, left-click on the Stroke color swatches and choose the desire color.

    2. To change the fill color of the text, left-click on the Fill color swatches.

  7. Click on Ok when done.

  8. By double-clicking on the vector layer of your text in the Layers palette, you can apply a variety of effects on your text. On the Layer Properties window, there are three tabs: the General tab, Blend Ranges tab, and Layer Styles tab. Each of these tabs have a different options for effect that you can use on your text. For example, the Layer Styles tab provides six effects: Reflection, Outer Glow, Bevel, Emboss, Inner Glow, and Drop Shadow. You can apply all these effects directly on your text by checking them all.

  9. Click on OK when done.
