TOP TEN REASONS TO DATE AN ENGINEER

Another forwarded e-mail from my wife… three years ago J

TOP TEN REASONS TO DATE AN ENGINEER

10. The world does revolve around us... we chose the coordinate system.

9. No "couple" enjoys a better "moment".

8. We know how to handle stress and strain in a relationship.

7. We have significant figures.

6. We have taken a course on the motion of rigid bodies.

5. Projectile motion... need we say more?

4. Engineers do it according to specification.

3. According to Newton, if two bodies interact, their forces are equal
and opposite.

2. We know it's not the length of the vector that counts, but how you apply the force.

1. We know the Right Hand Rule.

Need we say more ...

Dragon Ball Kai Episode #018

Episode #018: The Spaceship that sleeps in Yunzabit! Blast off for Planet Namek!

After the battle with Vegeta, Goku, together with Kririn and Gohan, was confined to the hospital to treat his wounds and get fully recovered. Bulma went to that hospital and showed them the remote control that can bring Nappa's spaceship to their location. After pressing some keys on the remote control, the spaceship suddenly explodes. It turns out that Bulma accidently self-destruct the spaceship.

Meanwhile, Mr. Popo dropped by to the hospital and told Kririn that he found another spaceship that they could use to travel to the planet Namek. Using the magic carpet, Bulma and Mr. Popo went instantly to Yunzabit Highlands where the spaceship is.

Mr. Popo revealed that Kami-sama's parents provided that spaceship for Kami-sama when he was just a baby. The spaceship was used to escape Kami-sama from planet Namek's annihilation and was sent to Earth.

The magic word "Piccolo" is used to open and close the entrance of the spaceship. The Namek language should be used in order to operate the spaceship. Bulma and Mr. Popo went inside the spaceship to check it. They have tested the spaceship and they were successful after they used it to travel to Jupiter.

They went back to the hospital and told them about Kami-sama's spaceship.

Ten days after the preparation, Bulma, together with Gohan and Kririn, begun the journey to the Planet Namek.

45 Lessons in Life

This is something we should all read at least once a week!
Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio

To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25 No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27 Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Why You Should Marry an Engineer?

My wife sent me this e-mail three years ago when we were just co-workers; I just want to share this to those interested bloggers!

Why You Should Marry an Engineer? Compare These Other Professionals To Engineers:

  1. DOCTORS: Supposedly, all women are after a Doctor, so don't expect your relationship to last more than 5 years. Eventually, he'll run off with some nurse from his office, or one of his young women patients that is pretending to be sick. He'll wait until you are stuck with a few kids to do this. This is not a problem with your Engineer husband. He had a hard enough time meeting you. It is unlikely he'll ever meet another woman in his profession.
  2. LAWYER: Do you seriously expect an honest, trusting relationship with someone who gets paid for lying? Once again, this is not a problem with your Engineer spouse. He doesn't have enough social skills to lie convincingly. An additional drawback to marrying a lawyer is when the divorce happens you will get nothing.
  3. SALESMAN: See honesty segment under Lawyer. Plus, he will be traveling to trade shows, etc. where he will be in the company of other equally trustworthy individuals. Don't be surprised when you get the invitation to show up on the Ricki Lake show. The company that your Engineer husband works will keep him in a cage, often called a cubicle, until he is ready to go home to you.
  4. TEACHER: The only reason he entered this profession is so that he could be surrounded by newly post-pubescent girls who idolize him. He'll be in jail soon, and then you'll have to look for another man.
  5. HAZARDOUS PROFESSIONS (FIREFIGHTER, CONSTRUCTION WORKER, ETC.): Your husband, if he is not dead by some accident, will likely be crippled with a back injury, etc. just about the time you are at your sexual peak. The only hazards that your Engineer husband will face is losing his eyesight by staring at the computer terminal for too long. This hazard actually has some benefits. For one, he will not notice that you are getting older, since you will be a blur. He will remember you as when he first met you, because the memory will still be sharp. And If you think he is looking at another woman, and you ask "Honey, were you looking at her?" he'll honestly be able to say that he didn't even see her.

Yeah! Break! care! Break!
With all your power!
Fly towards the infinite sky

Riding on the winds

This irreplaceable planet,
no way I'll hand it over!

Send it flying, Kamehameha!
This time of troubles
You were born to protect the world, after all
Yeah! Break! Care! Break! With all your power!

Do it, at full power!

Get Rid of These Bad Work Habits

Who doesn't have at least one habit that drives everyone else insane? You might bite your nails, slurp your coffee or tap your pen incessantly. Annoying? Yes. Serious problems? Not really.

In the office, however, some habits can go beyond annoying your co-workers; they can damage your career.

For the sake of your career and your co-workers' sanity, here's a list of bad work habits that can harm your career and how you can break them. If you're guilty of one (or more), it's time to get them under control.

Bad Habit: Missing deadlines.

What you think: "If it's only a little late, it doesn't mean anything."

What it really says: Your colleagues and boss can't count on you.

What to do: Don't view deadlines as negotiable. Remind yourself that people are counting on you to do your job well, which includes completing tasks on time. Even if you just barely missed the deadline and everything turned out OK, you probably caused your teammates a lot of anxiety and extra work, which they won't forget.

Bad Habit: Dressing unprofessionally.

What you think: "I'm the office free spirit with a quirky sense of style!"

What it really says: You don't take the job seriously.

What to do: You don't have to be a boring dresser to be professional, but you shouldn't look like you're about to go clubbing or strutting down a runway. Take a cue from your co-workers to see what's considered acceptable in the office.

Bad Habit: Not being punctual.

What you think: "As long as I get all my work in, nobody cares."

What it really says: You think your time is more important than everybody else's.

What to do: Stick to the schedule. Everyone in your office would like to sleep in a little or leave early, but they don't because people rely on them to be on time.

Bad Habit: Checking your e-mail, playing games, shopping.

What you think: "I'm discreet."

What it really says: You're not doing your job.

What to do: Keep the fun stuff to a minimum. Most employers don't mind if you check your e-mail every once in awhile or read your favorite blog for a few minutes in the morning. They begin to care when you minimize that game of Scrabulous every time they walk by your desk. You're being paid to work, not play.

Bad Habit: Gossiping.

What you think: "I'm just saying what I heard."

What it really says: You can't be trusted.

What to do: Sure, everybody gossips a little here and there, but it shouldn't be your livelihood. Eventually you'll gain a reputation for not keeping anything confidential –whether it's a personal matter or work-related. Plus, your chattering could end up hurting somebody's feelings or reputation.

Bad Habit: Being negative.

What you think: "Everybody complains."

What it really says: You're the person to avoid.

What to do: It's natural to grumble about work once in awhile. If you gripe and moan when you're asked to do anything, however, people will not only get annoyed, they'll wonder why you don't just quit. Keep in mind that work isn't always fun; keep the complaints to a minimum.

Bad Habit: Trying to be everybody's best friend.

What you think: "I'm just sociable."

What it really says: You don't know how to set boundaries.

What to do: It's not uncommon for friendships to develop at work, but don't expect it to happen with everybody. Unless you have reason to do otherwise, treat your superiors, colleagues and subordinates like professionals, not like drinking buddies.

Bad Habit: Burning bridges.

What you think: "I'll never see them again."

What it really says: You're not a professional who thinks about the future.

What to do: As much as you dream of telling off your boss or co-workers after you've handed in your resignation, restrain yourself. People change jobs, companies merge – someone you dissed in the past may end up being your boss down the road.

Bad Habit: Always being the funny one.

What you think: "People love me."

What it really says: You're really annoying.

What to do: There's nothing wrong with being funny – most people do like a good sense of humor. Just remember that not everybody wants to hear your sarcastic quips and "Godfather" impersonations every five minutes.

Bad Habit: Forgetting you have neighbors.

What you think: "I'm not as annoying as they are."

What it really says: You're inconsiderate.

What to do: Do unto your co-workers as you'd want them to do unto you. Your hour-long conference call on speakerphone is just as irksome to your cube mates as theirs are to you.

Collect RapidShare links at once and download them automatically!

I’m a follower of Death by Porno’s site :) and most of his posts have RapidShare download links. I wanted to gather these download links and download them using MajorShare.com’s RapidShare Downloader. But, there are dozens of RapidShare download links posted on this site and I don’t want to waste my time right-clicking on each link, then copy and paste each of them to the notepad.
So, I collected the RapidShare download links using this freeware application called Free Download Manager (FDM) ver. 3.0 build 848. This freeware application has a feature called Site Explorer where you can retrieve all the files posted on a website. Site Explorer allows you to explore the folder's content on the remote server. It acts like Windows Explorer. The Site Explorer window looks as follows:

Site Explorer displays the list of files on the remote server at the top and explorer log at the bottom. Once downloaded and installed on your computer:

  1. Launch FDM and expand the FDM window to see the hidden Site Explorer tab.
  2. Type the website address into the address field and hit the Go button. Wait until FDM finishes retrieving the list of files on that website.
  3. Once the Site Explorer is done retrieving the files, browse the Site Explorer and look for the RapidShare links. It is easy to find these links since they are sorted by filename.
  4. Highlight the RapidShare download links that you want to collect, right-click on them and select Download.
  5. In the Create Downloads window, choose Start >> Manually and click on OK.
  6. Go to Downloads tab and you will see the rapidshare download links that you highlighted earlier.
  7. Click on File menu >> Export >> Export lists of Downloads.
  8. In the Export list of downloads window, choose Export all downloads on the list, check Append if the file already exists and then click on OK.
  9. Name the file and save it to you drive as URL List files (*.txt).

Please note that you may not able to download the actual file from rapidshare through FDM, so I’ll be using RapidShare Download to download the files automatically.

  1. Launch RapidShare Downloader and click on Add tab.
  2. Copy all the collected RapidShare links from the text file saved from Free Download Manager.
  3. Paste the download links to the Add window and click Add.

Episode #016: A hard fight was finally about to end when Gohan transformed and made the final blast. Vegeta wanted to get in his capsule to flee from the planet but Kuririn is about to stab him with a sword.

Episode #017: The fierce dawn… Star of Hope is Piccolo’s Birthplace

Kuririn was about to stab Vegeta when Goku asked him to spare Vegeta’s life. Kuririn insists to kill Vegeta and fulfill their revenge for everyone who got killed on Earth. Goku admitted that he was bitten by Vegeta at that moment; he wants to spare Vegeta’s life so he will have another chance to fight him in the future. Kuririn let Vegeta escape per Goku’s request. Goku promised Kuririn that he will be more powerful on his next fight by getting another set of training. Vegeta was badly hurt when he left the Earth through his spaceship.

Chichi, along with Kari-sama, Master Roshi and Bulma, travelled to the battle field through a capsule ship to rescue Goku, Gohan, Kuririn and Yajirobi.

All together, they have searched and took the body of Yamcha, Tenshinhan and Piccolo.

Meanwhile, Kuririn told them that Vegeta is aware about the dragon balls and he wants to gather them all to grant his wish. During the battle, Vegeta told them that Piccolo and Kami-sama were a Namekseijin and originally came from planet Namek. He knew that Namekseijin have the power to create dragon balls.

Kuririn and the rest of them planned in travelling to planet Namek ahead of Vegeta to gather the dragon balls as earliest as they can so they can revive all the people died during the battle. Kaio-sama, the Lord of the Universe, told the team the exact location of the planet Namek and decided to use Nappa's spaceship to travel to that planet.

VLC 1.0.1 as Video Converter

I have an AVI video file that couldn’t be imported in to Corel VideoStudio Pro X2. I guess the problem lies within the codec used in that video file; using Media-Info, I found out that the codec used in this AVI file are: Advanced Video Codec for Video and Microsoft ADPCM for audio. I tried converting this AVI video file using Windows Media Encoder, Windows Movie Maker, but they couldn’t recognize the AVI file either. So, I use the free VLC’s convert feature to convert this AVI video file into a format that VideoStudio Pro X2 understands:

1.) Launch VLC Media Player and click Media menu >> Convert/Save;
2.) Click on the Add button and select the file you want to convert with VLC;

3.) The file to be converted should now be added to the File selection; click on Convert/Save button.
4.) In the Convert window, select the desired destination of the converted file.

5.) Manually type the file name and the file format extension of the video when it is converted (e.g. file.ts);
6.) Check “Display the output” to play the file while converting.
7.) In the Settings pane, select the profile that you want to be applied to the converted video.
8.) Click on the “Edit selected profile” icon for further customization;
9.) In the Encapsulation tab, select the file format extension to be used (e.g. MPEG-TS for *.ts);

10.) In the Video codec tab, check “keep original video track”.

11.) In the Audio codec tab, check “keep original video track”.

12.) Click on Save and then Start.

If the converted video file doesn’t have a sound, there must be something wrong during the conversion process; this happens when the format being converted has compatibility issues. To resolve this, you can convert again the source video, but this time, we are going to convert only its audio track.

1.) Repeat Step 1-5, but change the file extension to .wav;
2.) Check “Display the output” to play the file while converting.
3.) In the Settings pane, choose Audio – MP3;

4.) Click on the “Edit selected profile” icon for further customization;
5.) In the Encapsulation tab, you will notice that the selected format is “RAW”. Change that by selecting the WAV.

6.) In the Video codec tab, uncheck the “Video”;

7.) In the Audio codec tab, check the “Audio” and set the codec to “WAV”.

8.) You can change the Bit rate, Channels, and sample rate to your desired values; however just leave it as it is for now.
9.) Click on Save and then click Start.
At this point, you should now have two output files: the video file in .ts format and the audio file of your source video in .wav format. You can merge these two files using Corel VideoStudio Pro X2.
1.) Launch VideoStudio Pro X2 and insert the converted video file on to the beginning of main video track at 00:00:00.00 duration.
2.) Insert the WAV format on to the beginning of the voice track at 00:00:00.00 duration. Make sure that the inserted audio and video files are in the same starting position to avoid out of synchronization.

3.) Proceed to the Share tab >> Create Video File and select the video template that you want this project to be converted into.
